Is the iPhone 7 still a good phone in 2021?

Given the price adjustments iPhone models see every year, and the fact that you can get a great quality, almost like-new iPhone 7 phone for cheap - often less than $200, it's one of the best phones for the budget-conscious or price sensitive user. As of 2021, it still supports iOS 14.4.1 so all your normal applications like YouTube, Netflix, Amazon Prime and whatever mindless game your addicted to will likely still be supported. Damaged screen and battery replacement are also both very economically priced due to the use of an LCD screen versus an OLED for newer devices like the iPhone X or iPhone 11 Pro.

Does Apple sell refurbished iPhone 7 in Canada?

Due to the age of the iPhone 7 - and despite it still being supported by the latest version of the iOS firmware - Apple has not made Certified Refurbished iPhone 7 units in an color or capacity available in either Canada or the United States. Given the fact they may be on the cusp of being software deprecated in iOS 15, it's actually still a very capable smartphone which is why Mobile Tech Lab has made them available at such an accessible price point. We offer the same one year warranty, battery health guarantee and almost like-new aesthetic condition - not to mention same day shipping throughout Canada - even to remote areas Apple may not even service themselves.

How much is an iPhone 7 worth in Canada?

The resale value of the iPhone 7 32GB base model has dropped as expected since its release in September 2016, however since it's still supported by the latest firmware. Most carriers won't give you more than $100, and with COVID still being a concern many do not want to meet up with a random person off Kijiji or Facebook marketplace that might seem like your only option. All DeviceList Authorized Dealers like Mobile Tech Lab's many Manitoba locations offer safe, competitive and reasonable device buyback services. that get you cash in hand. Many of the carriers like Rogers or Bell only offer bill credit when you sign up for another multi-year financed device and service plan. This means you can't just walk into your local carrier retail location and sell your old broken or worn down iPhone 7 for cash in hand. With Mobile Tech Lab, we can not only give you cash in hand if it's preferred but we can also give you credit towards the cost of a repair, any accessory, or even a brand new device. Even if you think you're device is broken, or simply won't turn on, feel free to bring it by. We can buy it for parts, or usually even just fix it.

How much does an iPhone 7 cost in Canada?

DeviceList Authorized Dealers like all Mobile Tech Lab's Manitoba locations always have the best prices on iPhone 7 32GB, 128GB and 256GB variants. With the iPhone 11 and 12 very popular, the iPhone 7 still supports the latest iOS security update and has become very affordable. Currently the cost in Canada is less than $200 and will continue to drop.

Similar to the iPhone X, the iPhone 7 was released and immediately caused controversy with the removal of the classic physical home button as well as the 3.5mm audio jack which was replaced with the normal lightning port.

The 2016 release saw the release of two different iPhone 7 models - the normal 4.7" display and the larger format 5.5" iPhone 7 Plus - both in LCD.

iPhone 7 Price in Canada - New, Refurb, Gently Used?

The reality is that Apple does deprecate and discontinue devices very often, some would say faster than they should. As of 2021, and 2022, the iPhone 7 is no longer available brand new, so the only option in the market is certified preowned, refurbished or even just loosely labelled used.

The price for an iPhone 7 will likely continue to stay low, especially as newer phones like the iPhone 12 and 13 rise in cost. It is important though, to keep in mind that a sealed iPhone 7 will not be priced in line with certified preowned inventory because it is priced similar to an antique, more so than a device in line with market rates.

 Build Quality

Compared to the iPhone 6S release, Apple offers way more options aesthetically speaking for their next step up in the smartphone game. The iPhone 7 was shipped in Jet Black (which was essentially a fingerprint magnet), Matte Black, Silver, Gold, Rose Gold (aka pink) and a Product Red variant. All these were built of aluminum which makes them less likely to crack or become damaged after a year or two of wear and tear - unlike the newer iPhone 8 models that have glass backs and are constantly cracked or damaged.

iPhone 7 Camera Quality

As with every release, Apple users are going to expect significant and noticeable improvements in the camera quality. The iPhone 7 didn't  disappoint with a 12MP rear camera with improved aperture - f/1.8 versus f/2.2 which was what shipped with the iPhone 6S. The flash has also improved to a Quad-LED flash function versus a Dual-LED flash, which improves the low-light capability of the iPhone 7.

Chipset and CPU - How Does The iPhone 7 Stack Up?

If you're upgrading from an iPhone 6 series device, or even a 5S, you'll definitely feel a difference in terms of speed and ability to multi-task. Apple has upgraded the chipset from an A9 Fusion to an A10 Fusion, and used a Quad-core CPU instead of a Dual-core CPU as was the case with the 6S specifically.
